Immunization Changes
Please remember that ALL students, grades K-9 must have
- TWO doses of chicken pox vaccine (varicella) as REQUIRED by the state of Kansas. Children who have had the disease will not need the vaccinations; however, you must provide proof, with a date of illness and a doctor’s signature. The hepatitis B series is REQUIRED for any Kansas student enrolling in kindergarten, first, second or third grade. Please take care of these vaccinations during the summer months, before the rush of the new school year.
- Completed the 3 shot series of hepatitis B vaccine.
For students turning 11 during the 2009-2010 school year, the Tdap is required.
Please check your child's immunization records and schedule additional shots as needed at your physician's office or the health department. The child's immunization record must be complete and the green State Immunization Form must be on file at the office.
Physical Education - Middle School
Middle School students will not be leaving a pair of tennis shoes at school for P.E. classes next school year. Instead, middle school students will be required to wear tennis shoes to school on the days they will be having P.E. class. This will allow more time for the activity during P.E. class instead of spending time changing into P.E. shoes at the beginning of the period and back into other shoes at the end of the P.E. period. All students in grades K-5 will continue to leave a pair of tennis shoes in their homeroom that will be used only for P.E. classes. |
